Tashya studied landscape architecture out of an interest in resilience after disturbance in both ecological systems and human systems. She had been working in international development and peacebuilding and noticed a remarkable resilience in war-torn cities.  While receiving an MLA, she researched recovering landscapes in Lebanon and the Balkans, asking how new public spaces might become neutral ground for restoring social, political and ecological fissures. She then worked in NYC for a small design studio and an international planning firm. Since returning to PA, she has taught college courses on urban ecology, urban anthropology, and landscape architecture history and has continued practicing. She also spent two years coordinating Poetry Paths, an urban public art project in Lancaster, PA.
